Volt is immediately hiring an Indirect  Sales Tax Accountant   for a local leading distributor of specialty concrete and construction products and services in North America, serving professional contractors across non-residential, residential and other markets..


As an Indirect Sales Tax Accountant you will:

  • Handles one or more of the following sub functions: preparing and reviewing multi-state sales and use tax returns; reviewing business licenses; reviewing property tax returns and bills; reviewing real estate bills and appeals; coordinating and managing sales/use tax and business licenses audits, including sample selection and projections; reviewing, testing and updating point of sales systems (production and development environments) to ensure accuracy of tax calculations including rates and taxability determination; and/or reviewing reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations and other indirect taxes.
  • Assists Sales Tax Manager and provides leadership, training, and direction to other staff members.
  • Implements controls to reduce company tax exposure.
  • Reviews, researches, and responds to government notices.
  • Identifies and communicates solutions to complex, time-critical, or recurring business issues.
  • Researches complex tax issues, laws and pending legislation to determine its application to operations, including regulations, statutes and case law. Assists with special projects as needed.

Indirect Sales Tax Accountant candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of indirect tax experience
  • Demonstrated experience in reconciling financially based records including strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated to work in a deadline-orientated environment, independently or by contributing to a team environment.
    • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
    • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time

Pay for this position is $32/hr. Must be able to work both remote and in-office settings
