Software Engineer

Volt is hiring for a Software Engineer fluent in C/C++ and experienced with Real Time Operating Systems, such as Integrity, Real-Time Linux or VxWorks in El Segundo, CA. to work with our client who is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems.

*This will be an onsite position. Must hold a Top-Secret w/SSBI or SCI clearance to start the role.

  • Develop, integrate, and test of embedded flight software on a rapid development satellite program
  • Contribute to the full software life cycle
  • Partner with systems engineering and test to write software that meets program needs
  • Coding the engineer’s duties (which will include helping develop the software team to derive software requirements, evaluate software reuse, and define software architecture)
  • Facilitate translation of detailed requirements and algorithms into flight software by closely working with subject matter experts and the software team
  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 9 years’ experience.  

Preferred Qualification:

  • Agile development processes and methods (highly desirable)
  • Development, build and test of small and medium sized spacecraft
  • Dynamic rapid prototyping environment
  • Developing middle-ware software
  • Low-level programming with real-time constraints (example APIs include Unity and the Unreal Engine)
  • Computer hardware architectures and the extent to which they influence low level software.
