Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking a strong software Product Owner (PO) to help us deliver the best retail software solutions in the industry! As a client-facing individual, the Project Owner works with all product stakeholders to define, refine, map and prioritize all stories in the product backlog. The PO also applies agile principles with the development team, contributing to the vision and refinement of the product backlog.  Other responsibilities include iteration plan acceptance, story acceptance criteria and acceptance of stories as done. This position also requires strong collaborative skills and a systems-thinking mentality that can work both with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to develop and apply product development budgets, financial control, and strong understanding the financial impacts of product decisions.

• Serve as key stakeholder in story definition, assisting agile teams with clarification, estimates, story sequencing and team objectives for each iteration.
• Provide product vision and direction to agile teams and stakeholders throughout the product development.
• Develop and prioritize stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value and are aligned with product strategy.
• Iteration planning – Review and prioritize the backlog for iteration planning including coordination of story dependencies, story acceptance criteria and acceptance of stories as done.
• Backlog refinement – Build, prune, and maintain the team backlog with input from the key stakeholders
• Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
• Budget and financial awareness - understand how to develop a product development budget, financial control and understand the financial impacts of their product decisions.
• Understand client delivery timelines and commitments against a maintained MVP target for the delivery of the product. Ensure that customer's commitments are addressed and met on a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the team to continuously improve and define its mission.
• Be a key contributor in the team retrospective helping drive improvements across the team
• Manage communications and relationships with clients and diverse internal stakeholders.
• Good knowledge of Retails systems is an asset.

• No direct reports, but is responsible for coaching and advising all individuals in their assigned Agile team as required.

• Minimum Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent mix of education and relevant work experience required.
• Previous working experience as a Product Owner for 3 year(s) and supplemented with significant experience within in the software industry. Experience in Retail Systems is a definite asset.
• In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
• Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
• Strong abilities in client negotiation (scope, deliverables, contract) is a definite asset
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with a content management tools such as VSTS, JIRA, etc.
• Creative thinker with a vision
• Excellent English communication skills both written and spoken. French communication skill is a definite asset.

• SAFe 4.5 and SCPO certifications are a definite asset.

• Some travel is expected (5-10%) for client visits and trade shows.
