Job Description


Primarily responsible for hand soldering of highly dense, fine pitch SMT Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) with small components (0402 chip packages), BGA’s, QFN’s and other no leaded parts.  Assigned work will mostly consist of solder touch-up and rework and the operator must have excellent solder skills including the knowledge and experience for selecting the proper tools and techniques for performing the work without causing damage to the CCA. The candidate must be skilled in soldering iaw J-STD-001 requirements but does not need to be certified.  (Experience with hot-air reflow tools and working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 is a plus).

Secondary Skills include:

  • Performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations which may include skilled hand work or utilizing automated production equipment.
  • Comprehends and interprets a variety of technical specifications, terms and documents.
  • Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units.
  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.  Works under general supervision.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement. 
  • Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution.
  • Work is somewhat limited in scope, typically on smaller, less structured task-related activities.


Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
