We are seeking an individual to fill a position as a Sr. Database Admin with a local company here in Richland.

SUMMARY: 

Senior Level Database Analyst/Administrator. Provides strategic vision and planning for the implementation and use of databases in support of ERP applications. Design and oversee database disaster recovery and business continuity implementations that minimize business interruptions to the organization. Principal participant in activities related to the administration of databases in a client/server environment. Provides consultation to management with regard to short and long range requirements for database architectures and associated administration. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides strategic vision and planning for the implementation and use of databases in support of ERP applications.
  • Provide technical administration of Oracle and SQL client/server databases. These are corporate-wide databases critical to the business and technical operation of client. This includes database tuning/troubleshooting, documentation of database upgrades/patches, database procedures development, and documentation.
  • Provide consultative support and technical expertise to the organization and provide mentoring support to the staff in the ongoing administration of database environments.
  • Application of expert database development and design skills in the execution of corporate wide information technology projects; this will, on some projects, require functioning as the Technical Project Manager.
  • Perform formal technical analysis and document subsequent conclusions to compose documented feasibility studies. Proactively monitor client/server databases to identify, resolve and/or make recommendations for resolution of potential failures or performance issues.
  • Interface with vendor's technical support center, search the vendor's website, research the software architecture of application functionality, and learn to use the application tools to assist/coach customers in the implementation of new functions or in troubleshooting process and data problems.
  • Coordinates or assists in the implementation of application changes into production with customers and peers, ensuring changes and/or customization's to program/application objects and processes are clearly identified and packaged for migration and documented in adherence to standards.

SKILLS:

  • Advanced skills in the optimization and support of Oracle and/or MS SQL Server.
  • Desire experience using Oracle DBA tools (i.e. Advanced Compression, Tuning and Diagnostics, Real Application Testing, Database Lifecycle Management, Industry best practices for backup, storage, and recovery)
  • Desire the ability to design, code, test, and debug programs/applications of varying complexity in support of software upgrades. Including the interfacing with staff on these activities, assisting customers in their testing, developing and maintaining applicable procedures associated with assigned applications, and ensuring business processes and rules are captured within software application features.
  • Desire familiarity and/or understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix “B” requirements for information systems in a nuclear environment
  • Requires basic knowledge of application systems analysis and programming, database processing, database methodologies, management systems, local area networks, and desktop computer architectures and products.
  • Requires working knowledge of IS application development environments.
  • Plan strategic direction for database integration and implementation in support

Requires advanced knowledge of:

  • Database methodologies and database management systems
  • Local area network and desktop computer architectures and products
  • Client/server database architectures and technology.
