DTS has an opportunity for you to become part of a prestigious team of professionals. We are seeking a Structures Lab Technician to work onsite at Harley Davidson at their state of the art Product Development Center located in Milwaukee, WI.  This project is expected to last multiple years.

Job Summary

This Engineering position will be held accountable for delivering the following:

  • Follow work order instructions to implement test requirements.
  • Maintain, calibrate and apply instrumentation.
  • Fabricate customized transducers
  • Modify parts for installation of instrumentation.
  • Fabrication of test fixtures.
  • Set-up of servo-hydraulic and electrodynamic test systems.
  • Reduce component data into formats usable for validation testing.
  • Ability to operate data acquisition systems to collect data from sensors in support of testing.
  • Operate test equipment:  replicate or measure desired responses in the test environment (servo-hydraulic and electro-dynamic)
  • Collect test data for delivery to stakeholders.
  • Write engineering reports that documents the test environment for knowledge capture.
  • Support implementation of product evaluation test strategies.
  • Supports execution of testing.
  • Strict adherence to the 5S concept and all other supporting CI (continuous improvement) methods.

Relevant Education:

  • Position requires an Associates Degree in Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent technology.  Equivalent experience is acceptable.

Relevant Experience:

Applicants should have demonstrated core skills.  Willing to develop additional testing skills for qualified applicants.

Core Skills:

Test Development & Execution (development, durability, certification)

  • Has general knowledge of test lab functions through previous employment, co-op, or college internship.

Data acquisition systems and techniques

  • Demonstrates some understanding of data acquisition systems and techniques through work experience or education.

Test Instrumentation

  • Has been exposed to instrumentation tools and techniques though work experience or education.

Analysis of test results to provide decision ready information

  • Has utilized tools to efficiently reduce & summarize test data in charts, plots, and diagrams for purposes of design analysis.  Can output data from a variety of system formats into basic charts & plots. 

Additional Testing Skills:

Servo-hydraulic, electro-dynamic, and dynamometer test equipment and control systems

Bolted joint measurement test systems

Fabrication and Set-Up

  • Apply basic machining / welding techniques.
