Volt is seeking a Supply Management Specialist to work onsite at John Deere’s facility in Valley City, ND.  This is a contingent role forecasted for two years.  Hours of work – 7:30am-4:30pm.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain an ongoing relationship with assigned suppliers to monitor and improve supplier performance; measure the performance of the supplier and define corrective actions; obtain assistance from other functional representatives as appropriate; may negotiate with suppliers in order to resolve short-term performance problems; manage the day-to-day supplier relationship issues, thereby assuring proper communication occurs
  • Expedite parts as necessary
  • Develop and execute inventory plans to achieve inventory/asset management and material flow goals; resolve shipping, receiving, invoicing and payment problems to ensure prompt and accurate payments to suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvement in terms of performance and lowest total cost with the Supply Base utilizing Achieving Excellence process and criteria
  • Participate in implementation of resourcing activities and make versus buy decisions
  • Collect cost data and prepare limited supplier cost/industry analyses
  • Support the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process so design changes and product improvements are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in a Business/Management/ Engineering/Technology/Supply Management discipline or equivalent experience

Required Skills:

  • 3 or more years of experience working in specific areas of Supply Management such as:  supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, module supply management, scheduling, forecasting, logistics, etc.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, to include intermediate Excel skills
  • SAP experience
