Job Description

VOLT is seeking candidates for Senior System Engineer role for a Direct Hire opportunity with our client in Everett, WA

As our Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the conceptualization, architecture, design and development of modern civil and military avionic systems, subsystems, and LRUs.  

  • Capture, develop and maintain system and subsystem level feature/functional requirements from the customer
  • Develop product system and subsystem architecture from a software perspective
  • Help write and review software specification and DO-178 certification artifacts
  • Produce and maintain project data, software planning, software requirements, software design, validation, verification and certification data
  • Review code design to be certain that customer requirements are met
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
  • Participate in peer review of documents and maintain review/action item status
  • Maintain configuration management of the requirements in a controlled environment, primarily using DOORS
  • Work with hardware design and development teams
  • Communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale
  • Make sure that product performance is properly analyzed
  • Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software to correct mistakes, isolate areas of improvement, and general debugging
  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems, from requirements to production

Must Have:

  • Programming experience in C or C++
  • Experience with Model Base Design 
  • Proven system engineering experience in full life cycle design of military and civil avionics, systems and avionics components
  • Understanding of avionics systems architecture with emphasis on aircraft installations and operations, human factors design, aircraft digital data buses and protocols, analog and digital system interfaces and modern aircraft system architecture
  • Experienced in the development of requirements documents, design descriptions, and/or system verifications and procedures
  • Working knowledge of industry airworthiness standards and regulations, including FARs and Regulatory Guidance, assurance standards and methods: DO-160, DO-254, and ARP 4754.  DO-178 experience is a plus!
  • Certification experience to industry processes STC, TC, and TSO
  • Experience with requirements management, preferably using DOORS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Math or other aerospace engineering discipline
