We are seeking an individual to fill a position as a Web Developer with a local company here in Spokane WA.

The Enterprise Web Developer II, under the general direction of the Enterprise Web Developer III, will support the institutions web presence, including, architecture, navigation, policies, standards, coordination, evaluation, and programming. The Enterprise Web Developer II will work closely with Marketing and Communications to support and develop their intranet, websites, web applications, and to manage competing priorities. The Developer will, on an on-going basis, research emerging Internet technologies and implement those deemed important to the development of the institutions web system. The Developer will work closely with all institution groups involved in web development and usage to build an excellent web presence that furthers their mission.

Essential Functions

  • Design, code, test, and implement a broad range of web site components, applications, and elements for the Web Content Management System;
  • Develop, maintain, and support web applications using C#/ASP.Net, Ruby on Rails, Classic ASP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, SQL, XML/XSLT, and/or other application development tools and technologies as needed;
  • Design, create and/or implement scripts or other processes that exchange data between databases and web clients and work with the Oracle and SQL DBAs to ensure appropriate data exchange with central systems;
  • Design and create Microsoft SQL or MySQL databases to support web applications as needed.
  • Assist Marketing and Communications with the implementation of a consistent “look-and-feel” across the web systems;
  • Integration of their web presence with back-end databases and other systems;
  • In coordination with Marketing and Communications department, perform other functions as needed to develop and implement an effective, accurate, timely, useful, and attractive web presence.
  • Serve as a backup for the Enterprise Web Developer III on after-hours deployments.
  • Create and maintain documentation of all developed processes.
  • Utilize university standard code versioning utilities;
  • Follow all change management policy and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree or commensurate, demonstrable experience in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Systems Management, or related field;
  • Demonstrated experience writing web-based applications using C# and ASP.NET, Ruby on Rails, Classic ASP, Javascript, HTML, CSS and/or other web development frameworks and technologies;
  • Minimum of five years of experience developing, creating, and maintaining web systems content using the tools described above (strong preference will be given to someone with experience developing in a higher education environment);
  • Demonstrated experience writing web-based applications to link databases to web clients;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience meeting the needs of a diverse range of individual and group users of web systems;
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision;
  • Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their experience as web developers by exhibiting current samples of web systems they have created. (A personal computer and access to the Internet will be provided to all interview candidates – candidates may also bring electronic samples on disk for local display.)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Sitecore CMS (strongly desired)
  • Sitecore Developer Certification (strongly desired)
  • Experience with MVC frameworks (strongly desired)
  • Experience using Git (strongly desired)
  • Seven or more years of experience designing and maintaining web systems;
  • Experience developing web systems in a higher education environment;
  • Demonstrated experience developing web-based multimedia applications;
  • (Candidates will be asked to bring samples of scripts/applications they have designed and written, and demonstrate them during the interview using a web browser or other appropriate technology.);
  • Mobile application development experience (iOS and Android),
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience
