Job Description

Volt is currently hiring for an Accountant opportunity with a well-known and respected company in the Fresno, CA area! 

The Accountant will ensure that the policies and procedures are carried out in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives set down by the President and Vice-President. Be responsible for the maintenance and safekeeping, in good order, of the general ledger system, financial records and human resource files as assigned. Work as a partner to our operations team and report directly to the Vice-President.

Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain the accounting records through the month-end closing of the accrual-system accounting records; to include the reconciliation of accounts and ledgers
  • Develop and keep current reports for accounting, management, and the sales team including monthly commission reports, depreciation and amortization reports
  • Communicate important and timely accounting information regularly with members of the management team


  • Accurately maintain and disburse the daily cash budget
  • Assist in the preparation of fiscal budgets
  • Responsible for the maintenance, preparation, and filing of governmental forms and reports. (Sales Tax, City Business Tax, and others)


  • Prepare and maintain the daily cash budget forecast, reconcile bank accounts
  • Post cash receipts and credit card payments
  • Ensure invoicing is submitted in a timely manner to our customers
  • Identify delinquent accounts, assist admin team to resolve customer issues


  • Maintain Accounts Payable accounts, records and documents
  • Analyze, properly allocate and post invoices, credit card statements, freight bills and telephone statements
  • Schedule the payment of vendors to take advantage of discounts offered

P/R & Human Resources

  • Process bi-weekly payroll data entry
  • Review the accuracy of payroll reports to ensure that all taxes and garnishments are reported accurately in a timely manner to all appropriate agencies
  • Track time-clock entries and absence requests
  • Maintain all employee personnel files
  • Prepare employee forms from hire to termination
  • Respond to and track all unemployment claims
  • Maintain worker’s compensation claims, manage and file injury reports timely Assist in the administration of employee benefits

Measures of Performance

  • The following criteria will be used to evaluate the performance of the Accountant:
  • All forms and reports have been accurately completed and submitted/filed in a timely manner (weekly cash flow forecast, agings, and bank reconciliations)
  • Records and files are maintained on a current basis and are accurate
  • The department has been operated in an ethical and prudent manner
  • Cash flow requirements and reporting of the company have been maintained

Skills and Attributes

  • Self-starter able to multi-task effectively, with initiative and integrity
  • Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with accounting software, Sage MAS or other ERP preferred
  • Three years experience in a comparable position
