We are currently looking to hire an Accounting Associate for one of our clients in the financial services industry located in Grimsby, ON. This is a 17 months contract that starts as soon as possible and will go until February 2019.

Hours per week: 40 hours


Role Responsibilities:

  • Performs highly-complex clerical accounting duties involving routine and non-routine calculations and analysis, reconciliations, verifications, and postings while ensuring accuracy and validity in the accounting processes.
  • Maintains and processes accounting transactions to assist with accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconciles the more complex accounts, identifies discrepancies found, and provides the corrective action to be taken.
  • Communicates with others within the department or outside of the work area (employees, customers, suppliers) in order to exchange information and to answer questions or resolve issues.
  • Assists with month end close activities and preparing financial exhibits. Prepares various financial reports.

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum College Diploma in Accounting
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Must have Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, SUMIF's etc. and must able to read and rationalize formulas)
  • Basic knowledge of accruals
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hours of work flexible between 7am-6pm.
