Job Description

Training Technician

Where: Eden Prairie, MN

Pay: $17 /hr

Hours: 1st shift; training days will require attendance at 7:30 AM {Mondays and Wednesdays}

Job Description:

This job entails taking ownership of the training duties for at least one Production Department and one Support Department. Steel toed shoes with ESD are required within 2 weeks of starting. Duties include:

  • Develop improved training, using 'Training Within Standards' concepts and best practices.
  • Lead DACUM (Develop-A-Curriculum) projects and activities.
  • Train new employees in general department orientation, on-the-job training requirements and specific job requirements, to include the use of controlled documentation and record keeping systems.
  • Assist in evaluating department training for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Compile notes from SME / Engineer to prepare SOP’s and other production documents.
  • Update controlled documentation in electronic and hard copies
  • Perform routine audits of controlled documents 
  • Process and track documents while in approval cycle.
  • Maintain/organize training records and internal files for documentation.
  • Maintain, retain and file master copy of training documents.
  • Utilize various software packages such as LSO, e-Matrix, Microsoft Office, …
  • Print and distribute certification file cert forms


  • Comprehend technical equipment operation and convert that into instruction.
  • Create job task lists
  • compile job-related information
  • obtain operator, engineer
  • maintenance input;
  • write training objectives
  • listen to required tools & materials
  • designing & detailing job illustrations

Supervisor Support:

  • Coordinates with department supervisor and plant training analyst to develop training priorities and training schedules.
  • Update department managers and supervisors of changes occurring in training and certification policies, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Interface with all levels and across functions within the organization.


  • Ability to comprehend highly specialized manufacturing processes
  • Has experience generating Job Instructions using Training Within Industries standards and 3M DACUM processes
  • Must be able to think independently, prioritize assignments, and complete assignments in a timely manner. .
  • Advanced keyboarding skills, ability to use camera and download photos into documents.
  • Process documentation, task analysis, learning materials, job aids.
