We are looking to hire a Buyer/ Purchasing & Materials Planner (Aerospace) for our Client in the Aerospace industry in Oakville, ON for approximately a 12 months' assignment with the possibility of extension through Volt Workforce Solutions Canada.

  • Pay Rate: $32.31 - 38.46/hr (T4) depending on experience + benefits available
  • Shift: Day shift
  • Length of Assignment: 12 months to start ASAP pending background check, ITAR and CCGP Checks and Reference Checks
  • Work Location: Oakville, ON L6L 5Y7
  • Note: Steel toe boots are required for this position

IMPORTANT Experience Must-Haves:

  • Experience in Procurement and Purchasing is a MUST
  • Experience from either an Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive or Manufacturing industry is a MUST
  • University Degree completion is a MUST

Scope: This position will be working in our Clients' Operations group under Materials Management. The selected Candidate will be doing a lot of PO generating and tactical procurement. 

Role: The Buyer/Purchasing & Materials Planner is a professional responsible for all tactical supply chain functions in support of the business unit, including; demand validation, purchase order (p.o.) creation, p.o management, delivery assurance and exception message management. This position is for professionals with credentials in Supply Chain Management and three to five years of experience. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure uninterrupted flow of material to support manufacturing and customer OTD 
  • Review purchase requisitions against the master production schedule to validate demand 
  • Create p.o. in accordance with requisitions and contractual requirements 
  • Expedite material as needed; negotiating and working changes within supply base through the Change Board process 
  • Ensure inventory goals and objectives are met 
  • Negotiate with suppliers as required for reschedules in support of inventory and business objectives 
  • Support the Supply Chain Sales and Inventory Planning (SIOP) process 
  • Assist the Supplier Performance evaluation process 
  • Interface with Supplier Quality personnel to ensure supplier performance 

Basic Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required
  • BS w/ 3+ years experience in supply chain, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Developed professional able to work with minimum guidance
  • Understanding of the Supply Chain Sales, Inventory and Planning (SIOP) process
  • Expertise in MRP systems, preferably SAP with understanding of Procurement parameters and usage
  • Can identify risks that affect supply and delivery
  • Understands the basic tools in project management (SOW, WBS, responsibility matrix, change management, resource management, scheduling) to follow up supplier deliverables
  • Effectively uses root cause analysis for problem solving
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal & written) & excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Strong track record for achieving successful closure on projects in a fashion that supports business needs
  • Candidates must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP
