Job Title: Applications Engineer
Department: Product Engineering
Reports To: Product Engineering Manager (PEM)

SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of this Applications Engineer position include, but are not limited to general engineering and customer support for Prober/Dicer/PG products division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


• Expertise in Level 1 and Level 2 (basic prober operation and maintenance) knowledge and responsibilities typically required;
• Communicate with customers regarding their current and future application requirements and communicate this information to factory engineering group and the appropriate PEM;
• Assist Sales and Marketing by providing technical expertise for the purpose of generating new sales;
• Work with appropriate PEM to direct the efforts of the CSEs;
• Must demonstrate project management skills, be able to initiate, coordinate resources, document and drive a project from initial planning phase to fruition;
• Possess a thorough understanding of the various software components of the probers and the interactive relationship of these software components with industry platforms, such as testers, network servers, and probe floor management software tools (KLA Integrator Navigator);
• Assist in the design, implementation and/or installation of Prober/Dicer/PG products with thorough communication with product group at the factory;
• Support customer support engineering activities, including interfacing of systems;
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of all outstanding issue for all customers;
• Develop and maintain Gantt Charts as a tool to track and communicate progress on customer issues; This is to be done for both outstanding issues and new development projects for each customer within the assigned region;
• Manage on-site activities for new and existing customer evaluations. This will include, but is not limited to, working on the installation team, coordinating training and all other activities and writing and distributing daily notes and/or periodic reports as appropriate;
• Review and understand all up-lists and product updates immediately after they become available;
• Train Customer Support Engineers, in assigned territory, on up-lists, product updates and all other issues on a timely basis;
• Generate and distribute technical documents for new products, procedures, and discoveries by self or Customer Support Engineers in assigned territory;
• Remain current in all aspects of training for assigned products;
• Support Marketing and Sales by performing product demo’s, equipment setups and booth duty at trade shows for
customers as required;
• Travel as required ; and
• All other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BSME or BSEE with at least 3-5 years’ experience in design/development engineering for prober or other similar test equipment; or an equivalent combination of the above education and experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

English Language Ability. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Experience with technical writing and a demonstrated ability to relay complex technical concepts through documentation preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Very high mathematical and computational ability. Able to quickly grasp the scientific principals behind very complex machinery and learn the operation of this machinery. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to quickly ascertain and resolve equipment problems at customer sites.

REASONING ABILITY:

Excellent analytical ability and strong capability to make sound judgments. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Training Certificates for prober and/or other test equipment a plus.
