Apprentice Test System Technician

Volt Workforce Solutions is now Hiring and experienced Test Technician to work in Carlsbad, Ca. 

Long term, temp to hire role!

1st shift, 7 am to 3:36 pm, Monday to Friday, pay range $17.00-22.00/hr

Introduction:

This is an excellent position for someone with a passion for learning a broad skill set in the support of electronic systems, computer systems, tester systems, data analysis, and even some 3D printing and robotic systems. The Apprentice Test Systems Technician will work directly under the Test Systems Engineer, who will provide on the job training in these skill sets.  
This position requires a person who is a self-starter.  The daily routine will involve self-scheduling, prioritization of assignments, and conscientious follow-up and documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities
Existing Test System Support
•    Respond to Test Systems Users request for support.
•    Run tests or fault diagnostics to locate and address problem(s).
•    Disassembly/ reassembly of circuit boards, motor components, or other structures.  
•    Order parts if needed.
•    Keep logs and reports to outline tests run, parts used, troubleshooting approach, and repairs completed.
•    Regularly update custom equipment manuals and maintain parts inventory reports.
•    Perform preventive maintenance—logging tasks competed and making procedural notes.  Suggest adjustment to PM schedule to optimize resources.
•    Install and/or upgrade software on existing test systems.
New Test System Support
•    Set up and run initial tests on new electronic systems or equipment as directed by a Test Engineer.
•    Validate test system prototypes and calibrate equipment with notes and partial procedures from engineers and test engineer.  Identify potential issues and propose solutions to mitigate problems.
•    Maintain detailed records of validation tests and upgrades performed 
•    Perform second pass final validation/ verification of test equipment.
•    Verify the accuracy and work flow of test systems operating procedure.
•    Train production and QC personnel on equipment operation and test procedures.

Skills and Qualifications 
•    Electronic Background –Must read and understand wiring diagrams, drawings, and schematics, and must be familiar with basic electronics concepts.
•    Electronics Equipment – Must be able to skillfully operate bench tests equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, signal generators, and power supplies.
•    Mechanical Skills – Must have a higher than average mechanical aptitude, and be able to use a variety of manual and electrically powered tools; soldering iron, drills, presses, saws, etc.
•    Computer Proficiency – Proficient with MS Office applications.  
•    Data Analysis - . Experience with common data analysis methods preferred.
•    Single-board Computers – Preferably the candidate will have some familiarity with some of the Single-board computer systems.
•    Problem-Solving – It often takes several steps to diagnose a problem with an electronic component.  This position requires an individual be well versed on how to identify and provide solutions to electronic equipment issues and breakdowns.
•    Communication Skills – Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial (submitting various reports, speaking with engineers, project managers, programmers, and other technicians).
•    Organizational Skills – This position requires a conscientious individual with a knack for order from keeping testing equipment in good working condition to maintaining accurate records, manuals, and project files.
