Job Description

Volt is looking for an Assembly Manufacturing Engineer to work on-site with our customer John Deere in East Moline, IL on a 1-year contingent assignment. This position Will be dealing with assembly line issues/line support. Responsibilities will include;

  • Provides support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. Investigates, gathers and analyze data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
  • Establishes routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs of limited scope.
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope.
  • Works with electronic tools to perform engineering functions.
  • Develops and implements plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing through the John Deere Production System.
  • Designs operations layouts to improve material flow and material presentation.
  • Participates in team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity and efficiency.
  • Implements new manufacturing processes and technology.
  • Modifies existing performance pay plans; assists in development of baseline data for new wage performance pay plans.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Ideally looking for candidates with 1- 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Previous exposure to Pro-E & Auto CAD
  • Work experience in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification.
  • Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing, incentive pay systems, and work measurement.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Exposure to engineering tools, line design, material presentation, cycle balancing.
  • Skills to stand out: Knowledge of SAP, knowledge of tooling design, knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and an understanding of ergonomic tools and concepts.
