Quality Technician - The Hain Celestial Group - manufacturing - job employment

Volt Workforce Solutions in partnership with The Hain Celestial Group is seeking a food quality support technician.

Candidates must be open to working second shift hours (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Monday - Friday)

Position Summary:

Provide technical support for maintenance of the Quality Control, Safety, Sanitation and Environmental Programs to insure continued improvement of Safe Quality Food through communication and review and management of product compliance to specification, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost control of products.

Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high speed manufacturing environment.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

-Evaluate, document and develop processes and critical control points with manufacturing to assure compliance to specifications including GMPs, CCPs, GMO, SQF and allergen programs
-Monitor all production runs to assure food quality and safety programs are effectively applied and controlled.
-Manage all documentation to assure compliance to Hain Celestial's, SOP's, Kosher, Organic, governmental, and SQF programs.
-Perform daily finished product sensory evaluations.
-Champion plant safety and food safety through involvement in the Safety Committee and HACCP Team. Assist with monitoring personnel compliance with Safety, HACCP and SQF policies and procedures.
-Ensure plant personnel are following company GMP policies and procedures.
-Manage the inventory of materials used for the Quality, Sanitation, Environmental and Safety Programs.
-Along with Corporate Quality and Product Development personnel, assure product shelf life program is maintained to meet the needs of current and new products. Evaluate opportunities to extend shelf life extension.
-Assist with monitoring, recording and documentation of all incoming raw materials, Certificate of Analysis, testing and process testing protocols to assure food safety.
-Maintain and assure compliance to net weight and fill programs.
-Manage in process and finished product quality assuring compliance to specifications.
-Assist Product Development with finished products and raw material specifications, product label and promotional information and necessary test procedures for new and reformulated products.
-Assist the Quality Manager to assure quality monitoring program in place for plant housekeeping, sanitation, pest control and product rotation.
-Assist Plant and Quality Managers as needed regarding responses and follow-up to customer and consumer complaints.
-This position may be called upon as required as part of a Corporate function to liaison with other quality personnel within the company
-Authority to "hold" and "release" finished products or raw materials, which do not meet accepted standards at all internal manufacturing and co-packer facilities or any warehouse locations.
-Recommend production lines be stopped when consumer safety product or sanitation standards deviate from standard.
-Train employees as required to maintain Quality, Safety, Sanitation and Environmental Programs.
-Maintain QA Document files
-Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues and initiate action, as necessary.
-Follow all Food Safety guidelines, but not limited to:
• GMPs
• Allergen Program
• Quality
• Sanitation
• Safety
-Additional duties and various projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum two years' work-related experience in food quality control with supervisory experience

Essential Skills:

-Experience or education in food sciences, food process engineering or appropriate biological sciences.
-Preferred SQF Practitioner Certification
-Strong knowledge of Food GMPs, HACCP/Food Safety, Quality Assurance Programs.
-Exceptional communication, organization and analytical skills.
-Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast pace environment.
-Bilingual English/Spanish helpful but not mandatory
-Occasional lifting required up to 10-20 lbs. Carrying 10-20 lbs. and pushing/pulling 60+ lbs.
-Ability to meet attendance guidelines.
-Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all contacts both inside and outside the company.
