We are looking to hire a Permanent Aerospace Assoc Dir, MRB Engineer for our Client in the Aerospace industry in Oakville, ON through Volt Workforce Solutions Canada.

Job Description:

  • Salary Rate: PAY RATE: $76.92 - $82.05/hr (T4) (approx. $150k-160k based on experience) + eligible for AVP bonus plan

Manager Requirements:

  • **Previous Landing Gear experience highly preferred
  • **Must have Aerospace experience/background
  • ** Reporting into the Director of In-Production Engineering and will have ~4-5 people reporting into them (from various sites – Oakville, Poland, Texas, Everett)
  • **This is a New role

Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Production Engineering, the Associate Director, MRB Engineering will serve as a leader of the MRB Engineering team for all the Landing Gear sites and provide support to operations to address issues occurring during the fabrication of landing gear components.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a divisional wide MRB Engineering team, as an Engineering representative of the Material Review Board (MRB) to resolve diversified and somewhat complicated technical problems associated with dispositioning Nonconforming Material Rejection Reports in the Discrepancy Report System
  • Interface directly with suppliers, business units, operations, customers, and contracts groups
  • Ensure new and existing MRB personnel across BU’s receive the appropriate training as well as some external suppliers and customers
  • Responsible for developing and ensuring disposition practices are consistent and effective across all Landing Gear Sites and Suppliers
  • Be an active member of the Product Safety Review Board
  • Be an acting member for identifying and monitoring produce-ability opportunities and raise the appropriate request for changes to the engineering definition and/or manufacturing practices
  • Be responsible for developing training material to keep up with industry standards as well as customer contractual requirements
  • Develop and update communication tools (web-based lists, SharePoint, files, etc).
  • Perform audits (internal and supplier) to determine and approve/validate MRB processes as well as internal system controls at the Company or Company's suppliers.
  • Liaise with cross functional members to investigation mfg. issues, processing issues, design definition clarification/interpretation, coordinating efforts across a multiple functional organization, such as Planning, Tooling, Stress, M&P, Materiel, and Manufacturing.
  • Be responsible to ensure essential Company policies and procedures are consistently implemented including those beyond the traditional MRB roles.
  • May be asked to assist and participate across the Company in VSM, Kaizen and other ACE activities/events as a facilitator, implementer, advisor and consultant
  • Define product process measurements including metrics, flow charts, TAT and backlog
  • Prepare daily reports to provide visibility to MRB status and movement.
  • Develop and implement the use of advanced monitoring techniques to align prioritize with business needs
  • Responsible for promoting actively an ethics-based business culture in his/her organization, ensuring that all associates are aware of and fully comply with the Company's “Code of Ethics,” the “Policy Statement on Business Ethics and Conduct in Contracting with the U.S. Government,” and related policies
  • Ensure that employees are trained in the standards of conduct articulated in the “Code of Ethics” and that policies, procedures, and other materials that explain in a practical manner what is required of employees are available or disseminated. This includes taking all steps necessary to foster open communications and to support Company's compliance, business practices, DIALOG, and Ombudsman programs
  • Perform other duties as required by the management

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree with 8 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering principles and processes, finishing processes, shop fabrication sequences, structural design and major aircraft components and machining methods and practices
  • Bachelor of Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
  • Experience of Aerospace Engineering within MRB environment
  • Must have 5+ years of managing people
  • Proficient using Catia V5
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with customers at all levels
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Prior Boeing Commercial MRB Liaison Signature Authority with successful completion of Boeing MRB Structural Repair Analysis Course, or equivalent a plus.
  • Knowledge of Aviation Regulatory Requirements (Transport Canada, EASA, FAR, etc.).
  • Knowledge of dealing directly with suppliers to resolve issues and eliminating customer concerns.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques including special process
  • Six Sigma or ASQ Certification and knowledge of ACE Operating System preferred.
  • ACE Certification – “Associate Level” or higher preferred
