Job Description

Position Purpose:   Under direct  supervision, performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results.  Maintains test room equipment and assists in specialized testing.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  1. Performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results.
  2. Performs a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive mechanical and/or test operations on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  3. Determines methods and sequences of operation where complete information is not available.
  4. In coordination with Design, Sustaining, and Manufacturing Engineering, creates and conducts Hunter Test Methods [HTMs] and Design Verification Testing [DVT] for New Product and Competitor Product evaluation.
  5. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  6. Performs tests as requested by customers.
  7. Assists in prioritizing test requests and reviewing finished results before distribution.
  8. Monitors and maintains all test facility equipment.
  9. Trouble shoots for life cycle testing and documents results.
  10. Implements established testing procedures for R&D products. Tracks product through all phases of testing until product is approved for production.
  11. Verifies that all Engineering Change Orders are properly testing (when applicable) and documents those results.

Other Job Functions:

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
  • Adheres to all company and departmental safety procedures including use of personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Overtime may be required.

Qualifications:

Education/Training Required:

  • Requires an associate’s degree or equivalent technical or industry experience.

Experience Required:

  • Two years of experience in the field or related area.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time to perform testing activities. Intermittently walks to move about the test room and outside test sites.
  • Requires ability to walk on water-covered floors in the test room and upon uneven terrain at outside test sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry bag of sand and other items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to push and pull to move items on two-wheeled dolly.
  • Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching, lying on side and stomach) to gain access to perform testing activities and to clean tanks. Ability to reach above shoulder to raise the hood on test stand and tanks.
  • Ability to climb stairs to gain access to work area.
  • Manual dexterity, hand strength and coordination sufficient to grasp and use power equipment and hand tools, to handle a variety of parts and to assemble and disassembly components.
  • Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer, to manipulate small components and to complete paperwork activities.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform testing activities, to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.
  • Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.

Work Environment:

  • Works in test room and control room with temperature controls and rubberized tile floor. Works outside with flat and uneven grass, wood and concrete surfaces at outside test sites. Wears safety glasses, non-skid safety shoes, gloves, and ear protection in designated areas. Exposure to cleansers when cleaning tanks.
