Automation Engineer – Direct Hire

Location - Kirkland, WA

Pay - DOE

SUMMARY

The Automation Engineer is responsible for translating customer requirements into automated machinery and processes that result in optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes. Supporting the value of continuous improvement, the ME also recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls and coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products utilizing automation. The AE works with the customer, management and shop floor employees continuously to ensure on time delivery, quality and efficiency goals are achieved.  Included, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and/or direct preparation of Automation concept drawings
  • Prepare and/or direct preparation of controls drawings in adherence to applicable customer specifications and Company standards prior to submission to the Project Engineer and/or the customer
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results on automation equipment
  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
  • Evaluate problems, determine corrective actions, set plans, execute plans and develop root cause analyses
  • Provide debug assistance on the assembly floor, through customer acceptance
  • Provide controls assistance to the Technical Writer to help compile data needed for operators and maintenance manuals
  • Travel to international and domestic customer facilities, as required
  • Assist in efforts across other teams or departments to assure success of all projects
  • Aid in the development and training of other team members
  • Promote team awareness of the latest technological advances
  • Promote Company philosophy and scheduling methodology
  • Other duties assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • B.Sc./B. Electrical Engineering preferred, at minimum a Technical degree
  • 5 years minimum to 10 years’ experience in machine controls design and engineering related to special production machinery
  • 5 years minimum experience using CAD systems such as Solidworks or ProE

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented personality
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Able to facilitate closed loop communication with all areas of manufacturing and management.
  • Skilled in negotiating for shared resources
  • Able to demonstrate proven experience as a strong team player with multiple organizations.
  • Strong working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Be flexible, able and willing to modify with an ever-changing business environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, technical drawings and manuals, correspondence, and memos
