Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting for an Automation Engineer for a position that I have open in Aurora, CO.  Individual will be responsible for developing scripts and recipes to automate O/S builds and COTS configurations in complex server environments. These environments, a mix of servers, workstations, and custom hardware, provide the backbone for the operational system of a critical, strategic national asset. The environments also support product development, testing, and maintenance. Individual would be responsible for engineering, design and implementation of automation recipes (Chef) and scripts (Ruby, PowerShell, Python and others) as part of an automated installation process. Individual will be a self-starter, have an engineering mindset, and be able to troubleshoot complex problems. This position may require some on call support and overtime as well as limited (

Qualified Candidates will have the following education/experience to be considered: 

Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering and 4 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (technical Bachelor Degree = additional 8 years of related work experience).

• 4+ years of relevant Infrastructure/IT experience related to system installation and configuration

• Experience with automation tools such as Chef (preferred), Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Fabric or similar products for O/S builds, software installation and configuration

• Systems integration experience

• Ability to troubleshoot complex configuration problems or system issues

• Experience with Windows or Linux System Administration

• Strong scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.)

• Solid background in COTS product Installation

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and oral

Desired Skills:

• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and demonstrated implementation

• Understanding of DevOps concepts

• Experience with VMware– vCenter, ESXi, vSphere

• Understanding of Change Management processes - Version Control of software and applications using ClearCase and familiarity with DR’s, CR’s, and IR’s written with ClearQuest (or Remedy, etc.)

• The ability to effectively plan their own work up and the work of others on the team

• Experience with Tripwire or LogRhythm

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products
