Azure AD Single Sign-on (SSO) Technical Lead

Volt is looking to hire an Azure AD Single Sign-on (SSO) Technical Lead for our Client in the Procurement industry in Montreal, QC. This role is offered on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

The Azure AD Single Sign-on (SSO) Technical Lead will migrate existing applications integrated for Single Sign-on (SSO) from an existing platform (OpenAM) to a new platform (Azure Active Directory).  In addition to SSO migrations, there are occasional requests for integrating application with SSO for the very first time, directly to Azure Active Directory.

  • Configure pre-prod and prod federation metadata and certificate changes Azure AD for applications.
  • Liaise with application vendors to ensure configuration is complete.
  • QA Testing on multiple devices and browsers.
  • Raise changes in ServiceNow
  • Document technical design and test results.


  • Excellent skills in configuring SSO in Azure Active Directory
  • Excellent skills in configuring Conditional Access rules in Azure Active Directory
  • Understanding on how single sign-on protocols work; SAML, OAuth, WS-Fed. This is important for choosing the correct design approach and for troubleshooting
  • Excellent skills in using tools such as Fiddler and Wireshark to troubleshoot single sign-on authentication errors
  • Excellent communication skills working with external vendors who support applications targeted for SSO integration

Working style:

  • Proactive: must be able to work unattended in a proactive manner with a preference to live calls to cover complex topics rather than using email, more specifically: technical resources are required to directly contact and arrange live meetings with technical contacts on the application side for joint configuration and troubleshooting sessions (these meetings are not arranged for them).
  • Disciplined: the objective of SSO migrations is to migrate applications! As such, it is required to work with this objective in mind. Any activities or distractions that are not aligned to this objective should not be pursued or escalated to their project co-ordinator for assistance.
  • Organised: at any time there will be 10 – 15 applications in progress of migration. It is important to keep organised on the status of each application.
  • Team work: the technical lead will work together with a project co-ordinator. The project co-ordinator will keep reports update on application status based on feedback from the technical lead; this then allow demand and supply of work to be scheduled. For visibility, the project co-ordinator will, amongst other things: kick of SSO introductions with vendor contacts; liaise with the application business owners for signoff; arrange updates to SSO links on internal portals; arrange end user communications with the business owner; arrange service desk notification for production changes if required; notify service owners of the legacy platform once a migration to Azure AD is complete.
