Job Description

VOLT Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting for a Benefits Supervisor in the Bakersfield / Arvin area.

The Benefits Supervisor will supervise the Benefits Department; assign the staff work, ensure timely and accurate work execution, create and deliver employee customer service schedule across locations and hours, remove employee obstacles, ensure ongoing development and accountability of staff. Leverage the systems to their fullest ability in support of benefits plans accuracy, efficiency, and company needs.        

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise Benefits Department Staff.
  • Responsible for providing continuity in the administration of employee benefit programs, such as basic hospital, medical, surgical, and major medical plans, dental plans, term life insurance plans, supplemental plans and accidental death and dismemberment policies.
  • Plan and organize activities related to company-wide wellness programs, such as health fair, flu clinics, biometric screenings and other programs as assigned.
  • Perform analysis on plan usage and trends that provide a continual picture of benefits usage, issues, and opportunities for plan improvements.
  • Report monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics. 
  • Conduct employee meetings and arrange for enrollment of employees in benefit plans.
  • Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
  • Maintain contact in person, and by phone or mail, with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, third party administrators, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
  • Maintain full knowledge of all system fields, interfaces, uses, integrated processes, and accurate employee data for company needs.
  • Ensure employee catch-up and COBRA premiums are administered timely and within policy. 
  • Make final recommendation for write-offs. 
  • Attend seminars and training courses as requested.
  • Travel to various plant locations as required. 
  • Hours can vary with shift schedules.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field strongly desired.
  • Must have two or more years experience in active administration of employer benefits.
  • Familiarity with fully funded and self-funded health plans.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting concepts and processes.
  • Solid supervisory skills and a history of successful team building.
  • Position involves frequent contact with personnel inside and outside the company requiring reasonable tact, discretion, self-expression, and a working knowledge of the benefits, policies and procedures.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills needed.
  • Ability to interact effectively and objectively with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Word/Excel and ability to learn proprietary systems.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
