Transportation Analyst

Volt is looking to hire a Bilingual (French-English spoken/written)Transportation Analyst for our Client in the Procurement industry in Montreal, QC. This role is offered on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

The position encompasses the negotiation of contractual terms and coordination of contractual changes within the client’s equipment lease contracts for all North American business units. The incumbent will also be responsible to give support to the rail, truck and business analysts. Typical activities include following up on lease contracts, monitoring of the delivery of new equipment on new lease and delivery of equipment on lease termination and maintenance of the lease contracts.

The incumbent will also be given support to the rail analyst by insuring the normal flow of the leased equipment.

  • Pay Rate: $25/hour


  • Work with the lease suppliers and the plants to coordinate movement of new and ending rolling equipment leases;
  • Support specialist in developing sourcing plans to ensure the most efficient equipment is leased at the best cost;
  • Responsible for the optimal allocation of equipment fleets;
  • Provide support to the logistics analysts team on their daily activities;
  • Fleets monitoring on a daily basis;
  • Intervention with the railroads to reduce delays;
  • Maintain fleets in our rail tracking tools;
  • Maintain contracts into the Ariba system;
  • Coordinate maintenance of the cars;
  • Analysis of car supply based on short to long term forecasts.


  • Undergraduate / Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Business Administration or equivalent education is required;
  • Minimum of 5 years experiences in a procurement, transportation or customer service function is required;
  • Experience within a global organization with a focus on supporting internal/external stakeholders is preferred;
  • Strong relationship skills such as written and verbal communication, empathy, compromise, and respect for others;
  • Effective at managing conflict, including with others that do not necessarily share in your culture;
  • Sets a strong example for other staff in respect to health, safety, environment and business ethics;
  • Fluency in English and French is required;
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; commercial and financial acumen; and solid business judgment;
  • Well-developed leadership, interpersonal, dispute resolution and team building skills;
  • Self-starter with demonstrated initiative;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written;
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office products. 
  • Knowledge of delivery systems and cost-effective process management
  • Knowledge of ERP systems required (particularly SAP)
  • Knowledge of business / process improvement methodologies (ie. LEAN / Six Sigma)
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process
  • Advanced knowledge of analysis tools such as Excel
