Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently seeking a Buyer for an estimated 3 month contract for a client in the Irvine, CA area.

Candidate will report to the Purchasing Manager and coordinate closely with Planners to ensure timely manner of materials and work closely with accounting to ensure timely and accurate billing and invoice payments.


  • Expedite all purchase orders to obtain materials as required
  • Audit hot purchase orders for delivery dates and shortages and maintain communication with project managers, production control and operations manager
  • Locate and develop new sources of supply/vendors as required.
  • Provide support to engineering and marketing for required commodities; resolve any procurement issues
  • Support and follow ISO 9001 Operations Requirements

Outside Responsibilities

  • On the Purchasing side, this responsibility requires going out to bid for the painting of each project, creating the RFQ, shipping authorization(s) and purchase order for each shipment as it goes to paint, and working with Production during the whole process. 
  • Bid the paint, and/or pickling/passivation section of each project.
  • Create RFQs and shipping authorizations for each shipment that goes to paint. 
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery of outside processing orders.
  • Read and process work orders during the paint or pickling/passivation sequence.
  • Ensure accuracy of part numbers, drawings and paint specs involved with the above.


  • AA degree in Business, or another related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in procurement of industrial materials, products and field services/subcontracting
  • Experience with Epicor a plus
  • Proficiency in successful expending of materials and components
  • Experience in job-shop environment
