Job Description

Volt is looking for 2 calibration lab technicians who will test, calibrate, and repair electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measures, record, and indicate instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. Also, they will assist in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties. Temp to hire. Pay is $16 - $17.50 (junior level) and  $17 - $19.50 (senior level). Located in Chelmsford, MA- will train the right candidate!


  • Operates hydraulic load testing machines, automated testing machines, and dead weight calibrations.
  • Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment.
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
  • Measures parts for conformity with specifications. ? Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry, using soldering under a microscope.
  •  Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment. ? Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
  • Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment. ? Other duties may be assigned.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:  Ability to be present for assigned shift, complete assigned tasks and perform duties required to meet organizational goals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CUSTOMER FOCUS: Ability to focus on order due dates and follow a schedule 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and frequently lift 5-15 lbs.  Bending and reaching occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level is quiet to moderate and the work are is temperature controlled.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Six months related experience and/or training.  High School Graduation or GED is required.
