If so, you might be the person that Volt Workforce Solutions is looking to place at our client full-time Cloud Operations Engineer position located in the Houston, Texas!   

As the Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating with the development and product teams to help them build and manage innovative, scalable and agile cloud-based solutions. You will play a vital role in streamlining our clients’ data management systems in the cloud, solving complex problems and generating creative ideas.

Here are some of your responsibilities, we would like to know what else you can add to this

  • Work with the development and product teams to design and Build a Scalable Cloud Architecture
  • Identify the problematic areas in the cloud structure and suggest improvements to the technical processes, tasks, and technologies
  • Maintain and manage the technological infrastructure and the security protocols in cloud systems
  • Act as a point of contact for our clients and offer technical support for all the issues surrounding the cloud resources
  • Test and troubleshoot large-scale distributed systems
  • Develop the supporting documentation and the best principles and practices required for operating cloud platforms


  • 5+ years in supporting the production environment on Linux/UNIX, Java or other database platforms
  • Broad knowledge of the Microsoft Azure Cloud (or other cloud technologies such as AWS, OpenStack, Vcloud, Google Cloud, Docker)
  • Hands-on experience with the major Azure tools, Azure container services, Azure resource manage scripting, standard automation and scripted deployment methods, storage services, and IoT Hub
  • Experience with APIs, orchestration, automation, DevOps and databases like NoSQL is also important
  • An understanding of network configuration, devices, protocols, storage technology, data center processes, Linux, Kerberos, Kubernetes, Active Directory, etc.
  • Exposure to orchestration and provisioning tools is desirable (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience using cloud infrastructure automation tools (e.g. Cloudformation)
  • Extensive knowledge of various programming languages including Perl, Java, Ruby, Python
  • BASH scripting
  • Skilled in the development and management of continuous integration build pipelines (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Professional experience with master data management, product information management, data governance, data warehousing, business intelligence or data visualization will be a plus. Technologies: we use include ELK stack, Elasticsearch, HBase, Hadoop, Kafka, Zookeeper, IIS, Java etc.
