Volt has an amazing career opportunity available for a CNC Lathe Operator in Bakersfield!  Our client has been in business for almost 30 years and is still growing. 

What once was just a repair shop now features an impressive 50,000 square foot state of the art manufacturing facility on five acres!

This opportunity is long term and permanent for the right candidate.

The CNC Machine Operator works under immediate supervision and follows specific instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

CNC Lathe Operator Responsibilities: 

  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.
  • Sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
  • Enters commands to retrieve, input computerized machine control media.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Understands and follows all safety procedures.
  • Reports to supervisor immediately of potential hazards or risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Sets-up mills or lathes by using set up sheet to gather tools needed per work order
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to Company standards


High School Diploma or equivalent


2+ years’ experience using production machinery preferred

May need to complete apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.


Must be able to Read Blueprints.

Knowledgeable in using measuring instruments such as micrometers, Calipers, etc.

Educated in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty.

Well-informed of commonly used concepts, practices and basic math.


  • Lathes Machinist: 2 years (Preferred)
  • production machinery: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Mills Machinist: 2 years (Preferred)
