Summary: The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to include Lathe, Mill and Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL), to perform and produce precision metal parts and materials.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, adjust and operate machine controls to position tools or regulate cutting depth, speed, feed or coolant flow to produce precision metal parts and materials as specified by work order, blueprints, drawing, templates or layout.
  • Mounts, aligns and secures tooling, attachments and work-piece on machine chuck.
  • Start and stop automatic operation of numerical control machine parts or test setup, work-piece dimensions or programming.
  • Monitor and maintain machines during use in order to diagnose machine malfunctions, need for adjustments or repairs.
  • May perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Ensure proper dimensions of finished material to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • May adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machine malfunctions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, drawings or templates.
  • Must be able to move, install, position and handle materials.
  • Must be able to read programming and understand G-codes and M-codes.
  • Must be able to adjust feeds & speeds in both digital and dial.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE.
