Operates all CNC Lathes and machine centers to machine parts from Billet, Castings & Forgings as required with minimal supervision by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up, Program and Run CNC Lathe Machines.
Reads Work Instructions, Blueprints, Basic understanding of GD & T, Basic Speed & Feed Calculations, Basic Trig, Understands fundamental G codes, M codes, Tool Geometry, Sketches, Drawings, Manuals, Specifications, to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.
Understand and select correct tooling as per set up sheet
Aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
Produce parts within required time and tolerance within specifications
Ensure the CNC Machine is operating at the highest level of productivity appropriate to the assigned project
Replace any dull tool when required.
Review set up sheets and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence and dimensions
Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position in machine spindles as specified using hand tools or insert cutting tools
Measure and maintain tight tolerance by adjusting tool offsets when necessary
Adjust machine speeds and feeds and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications
Maintain part process and conformance of finished part to specifications
Responsible for keeping work area clean and neat
Communicate effectively verbally.
Completes all necessary Documentation, Shop Travelers, Machine Logs, in process Inspection Sheets, etc.
Work with other Team Members.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1-3 years related experience with Live Tooling Lathe Set up equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or equivalency required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with most tools and equipment in a machine shop, including Lathes, Grinders, Saws, Debarring Equipment, Various Measuring Tools, Must be able to read and write in English.
