Job Description

RMS Communications and External Affairs is seeking an experienced business communicator to support employee engagement through organizational communications assignments and deliverables. This position supports the creation of key messaging for leadership. The ideal candidate will have exceptionally strong writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of AP Style guidelines. Previous experience with executive communications, internal communications, public relations, marketing or advertising would be beneficial in this role.

Primary responsibilities include conducting research and writing speeches, talking points, all-employee memos, video scripts, blogs, internal news stories and other leadership communications. Writing communications plans and campaigns, developing strategies to spread key messages through internal social media and targeted email, and supporting large company events are part of the role.

Prior speechwriting and executive communications experience is a plus, but not required.

Web and graphic design experience are also beneficial for management of creative projects.

Required Skills:
In addition to education requirements, a minimum of 3+ years of experience in an applicable communications role with proven achievement.

  • Must have exceptional writing and editing ability with experience developing compelling and creative articles, stories, speeches, blogs, presentations or website content
  • Proven writing capabilities in a variety of formats, including executive speeches, talking points, organizational communications and video scripts
  • Ability to weave humor, data, quotes and inspiring stories into communications to captivate and motivate audiences
  • Ability to act as thought leader and guide strategy for executive engagement with employees and media
  • Ability to present information in a highly creative and compelling way to move audiences to action
  • Experience working in teams and collaborating with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop engaging messaging for leaders within highly visible venues
  • Demonstrated experience working with employees, supervisors and all levels of a leadership team. Demonstrated flexibility/adaptability to changing requirements and priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint and Word
  • Highly motivated and self-driven
  • Strong working knowledge of internal and external social media platforms
  • Demonstrated expertise developing content for web and print environments

Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism or other related field.
