Job Description- Computer Operations Manager

Analyzes and identifies all or part of a company’s existing or new mainframe computer (and/or server), peripheral, network, and telecommunications systems requirements, taking into consideration the special technology needs.  Designs, implements, codes, tests, documents, and maintains systems integration solutions to total systems or subsystems.  Establishes functional and technical specifications, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem. 


  • Complies with and stays abreast of all policies and procedures, federal and state laws applicable to the job.  Follows policies and procedures; completes tasks correctly and on time; supports the company’s goals and values.
  • Directly responsible for the performance and operation of the Computer Operations department, staff, systems, and procedures including budget, performance appraisals, and controls.
  • Serve as the officer responsible for the operation, support, and coordination of core banking system (Fiserv Premier) internal services, daily processing, and change management.
  • Responsible for recommending, planning, implementation and control of related programs and procedures.  Installs, tests, analyzes, and provides problem resolution for all hardware and software elements of the IBM Power Series & AIX environment.
  • Provides technical analysis in Premier core banking system data processing, planning, engineering, and design.
  • Monitors all network, hardware, and software components to ensure maximum availability, performance, and security of Fiserv Premier / IBM AIX environment and associated data transfers.
  • Assists bank personnel in problem solving Fiserv Premier software and other third party software related issues. Provides assistance to user departments to help them identify and locate program errors to ensure that all systems are functioning effectively and error-free.
  • Ensure daily operating procedures are completed correctly and timely, and are updated to reflect current business and system requirements
  • Evaluates and reports on new technologies to enhance the capabilities of the Fiserv Premier core-processing environment.
  • Proposes solutions to management to ensure capacity management requirements based upon future needs and current usage are addressed in a proactive and cost effective manner.
  • Maintains provisioning, servicing, and maintenance activities. Coordinates Premier system upgrade and conversion projects.  Schedules preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure smooth and error-free operation at all times with minimal down time.
  • Support DR/BCP testing and ensure recovery procedure documentation is current and accurate.


Manage the performance and activities of the associates in the Computer Operations department.

Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • 5 years or more experience in bank operations utilizing core processing software.
  • Solid understanding of bank operations, electronic banking systems, and general banking functions.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory guidelines as they pertain to bank operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
