Contact Center Rep - Insurance Company

Pay Rate:$17.50 per hour 

3+ month opportunity with possibility of contract extension!

Our Client is a $2.8B Portland-based provider of financial products.  The company’s offerings include: group and individual disability insurance, group dental and vision insurance, retirement plans products and services, and investment advice.  Established 100 years ago, our Client offers the stability of an established firm with a collegial, high-touch service culture.  We are filling needs for several Call Center Representative positions in Hillsboro, OR. 

Work days will be Monday through Friday – 40 hours per week.

Candidate flexibility in schedule is preferred. 

Work hours sometime between 5 am – 5 pm.

This location is conveniently located right off Highway 26; parking is free - they have their own parking lot; individualized training in a professional and friendly work environment.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Take mostly inbound calls in a high-volume call center.
  • Assist clients with their Absence Management and FMLA and Short Term Disability questions and opening claims.
  • Receive around 60 inbound calls per shift.
  • Ask probing questions to screen the calls as you receive them.
  • Assist the client if possible or transfer them to the appropriate party if need be.
  • Respond to customer inquiries by personalizing and relaying accurate information to members.
  • Provide technical, procedural, and operational guidance on client service issues as well as deliver personalized service and respond to questions about products.
  • Give clear and concise communication of information, policies, and procedures.
  • Problem solve, perform initial research, and follow-up with client related issues as needed.
  • Monitor status of requested / assigned work, prepare customized correspondence as necessary, and make outbound calls as requested.

  • Detail Orientation.
  • Proven outstanding customer service experience and solid work history required.
  • Solid attendance and punctuality
  • Previous call center experience is strongly desired
  • Computer skills – Intermediate level in MS Office
  • Typing – 40+ WPM


High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required

Bonus Experience:

  • Experience working for an insurance company
  • Experience in a call center environment
