Job Description

The Continuous Improvement Specialist contributes to the overall success of two large facilities in California and Washington by defining performance targets, identifying solutions and ensuring that plans are well-implemented according to the SQCDME methodology. The function includes project management, training management and cost measurement.


  • Strong knowledge of production and manufacturing processes and techniques including knowledge of:
    • GMP’s
    • Inventory Management as it relates to production activities
    • Quality Systems and Standards for food production
    • Basic Engineering Production Technology related to food production facilities
    • Health and Safety standards and compliance
    • Process Improvement techniques

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deploy continuous improvement methods in all departments to optimize all the processes and help to ensure optimal performances.
  • Help to ensure that all routine/rituals/regular meetings occur on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Elaborate and follow action plans. Ensure that each meeting follows the rules defined.
  • Identify the training needs regarding continuous improvement tools and methods. Ensure training implementation for all employees.
  • Support all continuous improvement projects related; lead, coordinate and follow improvement and issue solving working groups and formally tracks/documents actions taken.
  • Manage changeover, 5 Whys, 5 S working group when needed.
  • Implement, track and report all defined performance indicators.
  • Manage the OEE software implementation, ensure the measurement robustness, perform indicator reports and ensure operators, leads and supervisors training
  • Manage all projects related to efficiency and productivity improvement.
  • Participate in new equipment and new procedures implementation to ensure their efficiency.
  • May lead the work of the Continuous Improvement team, including Interns.
  • Support the design and the implementation of new organizations via training process for all departments.
  • Ensure efficiency cost conversion with the finance department.
  • Follow and present progress to the Senior Management meetings and prepare Town Hall meetings.
  • Travel required up to 20% of the time


  • Bachelor degree in business administration, food science, industrial technology or related field or equivalent of education and experience, Master degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a comparable role within a food manufacturing company.
  • Experience with manufacturing quality processes and standardization methodologies (LEAN, Kaizen or Six Sigma) required.
  • Successful experience working within multi-cultural production teams.


  • Technical skills:
    • Experience with ERP/MRP systems including manufacturing metrics and reporting desired
    • Computer skills including MS Office
  • Self- directed and able to work independently.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize, track and manage a variety of concurrent activities and projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface successfully at all levels in a multi-cultural environment. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
