Job Description

Job Summary:  The Control Engineer is responsible for the creation, study and installation of industrial projects until final qualification (using standard process and tools). 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Technical troubleshooting for Controls, Electrical, Instrumentation, and some Mechanical Systems
  • Creates test procedures; testing, evaluating, modifying and calibrating products and instruments.
  • Programming (and consultation) for continuous improvement projects.
  • Management of small engineering projects.
  • Attend daily production, methods, and management meetings
  • Monitor status of production equipment and support maintenance as needed
  • Programming PLC’s and HMI’s for carryout of improvement projects
  • Complete formal root cause analysis and recommend/complete necessary corrective actions
  • Some ‘after hours’ plant support for controls, automation, or advanced electrical troubleshooting.
  • Project management support and leadership (new projects and existing installation upgrade)
  • Leadership and report out of OEE tasks completed
  • Writes reports and documentation; analyzes and interprets data for management use.
  • Plant maintenance support as needed

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering.
  • 5-7 years working in industrial manufacturing preferably working within or alongside maintenance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • General knowledge of Line & hygienic Design (Auto CAD).
  • Experience managing vendor relationships; negotiation of activities and service delivery.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.  French desired.
  • Good relationship, diplomatic, organization and rigorous, team spirit
  • Pragmatism, results-oriented , collaborative work style,
  • Good administrator : Budget, Project and planning
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to program PLC’s
    • Servo/Frequency Drive Troubleshooting and Programming
    • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
    • Understanding of machine networking
    • Understanding of electrical drawings
    • Perform, teach, and communicate root cause analysis
    • Ability to create databases
    • Project management experience
    • Experience with:
      • Allen Bradley Control Logix (RS 5000)
      • Siemens S7 PLC/HMI
      • Proface HMI
      • Intouch Wonderware
      • Yaskawa Motion Controller PLC
      • Omron PLC
      • Drives (Danfoss, Siemens, Yaskawa, Omron, Allen Bradley)
      • Wonderware software

        Budget/Supervisory Responsibility

      • Not directly, but he can get functional link with some maintenance technician to develop automatism capability and shift autonomy.
