Job: Corporate Communications Specialist (Group)

Our client has a need for a Corporate Communications Specialist (Group) in Meridian, Idaho. This is a temp to hire position and is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions.

Job Summary:

A Corporate Communications Specialist will develop and implement marketing strategies, programs and materials in support of the company’s group products. Coordinate and obtain Idaho Department of Insurance (DOI) approvals to ensure that all marketing materials, website, and activities are compliant with DOI regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write sales and marketing materials for our Group products and customers.
  • Act as liaison between account management, sales team, etc. and Corporate Communications to coordinate Group needs with resources.
    Oversee designers both in creation and execution of design concepts and production of final state of sales and marketing materials.
  • Provide guidance to both internal and external personnel in learning and improving knowledge and adherence to DOI guidelines for marketing materials.
  • Define, draft and oversee the production of marketing and informational materials for existing and new Group products.  Such materials include sales brochures, direct mail pieces, presentations, and benefit information (Summary of Benefits, etc.) based on target market segments and service regions.
  • Develop and coordinate mailing lists and materials for all product offering variations.  Mailings include twice monthly mailings during annual and open enrollment periods, on going weekly and monthly mailings for Group brokers, administrators, members, and monthly mailings for Group prospects.  Pieces include letters, brochures, cards and reply cards tailored for each target market segment.
  • Define requirements and coordinate market research for current and future markets to assist in product development and market segmentation.
  • Draft and edit marketing materials based on market and regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain appropriate approvals for marketing and member communication materials from DOI, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and Blue Cross of Idaho corporate as appropriate.  Such materials include print advertising, sales brochures and presentations, direct mail, Summary of Benefits, sales and marketing communications and packaging.
  • Serve as marketing liaison to the DOI for the Group product line.  Maintain documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance to the DOI for all Group marketing materials and develop and implement policies and procedures that assure compliance to the DOI for Group marketing activities and materials.
  • Serve as liaison with in-house creative and production services to create value-added, compliant marketing materials. 
  • Develop direct sales, district office and broker media packages and maintain communication regarding availability of materials and projects.  Provide sales training for new sales presentations and plan materials.
  • Develop and coordinate the placement of all Group information on the Blue Cross of Idaho website and monitor for DOI compliance.  Add new materials as products and requirements demand.
  • Act as coach, mentor and facilitator within the marketing team to promote awareness/understanding of the Group market.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assure positive corporate public relations through monitoring of any significant news and/or problems.  Notify the Manager, Communications and Product Profit and Loss Leader immediately of any developments that may impact public option.
  • Oversee project team associates as well as outside vendors when required.
  • Assist department personnel in learning and improving company knowledge and adherence to brand compliance.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Manager.

 Requirements:

(Minimum qualifications required for the job)

  • Experience: Five years marketing and communications (within a public relations setting, in advertising or public relations agency)
  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, advertising or business-related field); or equivalent work experience (two years’ work experience is equivalent to one year college)

  • Define and manage the design and production of marketing materials including advertising, direct mail, product collateral, PR and web content for the consumer market
  • Work with outside advertising, production and regulatory agencies
  • Work with sales teams (both direct and indirect channels) to develop supporting materials, activities and lead generation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Health insurance industry
  • State and Federal regulations surrounding Group insurance products, policies, etc.
  • Master’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or advertising
