Continuous  Improvement Lead

This located in Kent, WA (near Seattle) which is an industry leader in comprehensive, high performance interconnect solutions for Aerospace, Military, Space, Test and Measurement, Industrial and Medical Technologies is seeking a Continuous Improvement Lead for a full-time, direct opportunity to join its factory leadership team Reporting to the Director of Operations.

COS is our standardized methodology using the tools of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement for both our customers and our business. It promotes the systems and culture of safety, employee involvement, quality and on-time delivery--all of this with our customer in mind.

Every CIT location participates with the goal of continuous improvement at all facilities.

The mission of the Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead is to reduce operating costs by serving as a leader of the company at both manufacturing and business process levels. The Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead will ensure the successful execution of COS activities and administers policy deployment activities, managing for daily improvement (MDI) and metrics reporting at regular intervals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Partner with Director of Operations and other Factory Leadership to establish operating goals.
  • Organize and lead all Lean Kaizen events in Kent, WA site and other company locations as necessary.
  • Ensure adequate alignment of the COS implementation and execution plans with the organization's vision.
  • Champion lean initiatives in support of the company including shop floor, business process and point kaizen events.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain lean continuous improvement performance with all company department managers.
  • Partner with the factory leadership team to develop and execute Policy Deployment activities and plant metrics reporting, ensuring monthly inputs are complete from each department. Accountable for updates and maintenance of factory X-Matrix.
  • Oversee Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) deployment objectives and continually work with kaizen area leaders to ensure sustainment of gains.
  • Lead the implementation of lean culture to all areas of the organization utilizing training, lean tools and providing training where necessary via programs such as the Operations System Specialist (COSS) program and kaizen first day training.
  • Support problem-solving activities on manufacturing floor and throughout all business functions.
  • Ensure effective maintenance of lean documents and visual controls such as scorecards, 5S, task cards, COS plant participation charts and COS communication boards.
  • Ensure the execution of COS Audits and maintain progressive 5S program within the plant.
  • Ensure effective execution and evolution of kaizen sustainment activities to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and provide the necessary feedback to the teams for optimal post-kaizen results.
  • Motivate and counsel employees in preserving an efficient and productive workplace.

  • Responsible for direction, coordination and evaluation of supervisors, professional staff and COS employees
  • Responsibilities include interview, hire and cross-training employees; plan and direct work; appraise performance; reward and regulate employee behavior; address complaints and enact solutions
  • Provide coaching and development to employees to develop and enhance their technical and operational performance.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership.
