Customer Service: Benefits Verification Specialist I

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides administrative, clerical and general office support for the Customer Sales Support team. Responsible for data entry tasks in the Customer Relationship Management system.

Responsible for managing the insurance verification processes for the customer sales department. 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enters data into CRM as instructed by IVS staff to initiate and complete Patient Information Sheets (PIFs).
  • Verifies insurance benefits to determined cost share amounts for potential customers as they enter the  sales pipeline as qualified leads.
  • Documents prior authorization details obtained from insurance verification call 
  • Assist with submitting for prior authorizations
  • Assist with Prior authorization follow ups
  • Achieves assigned goals as established by the Customer Sales Support Manager.
  • Notifies pod leader of any deficits in systems for insurance verification.
  • Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities.
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Ability to converse in insurance language routinely utilized by the health insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of individual health plan insurances’ DME practices.
  • Ability to read and follow procedures and flow diagrams.
  • Computer competency including MS office, internet and navigation of customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

  1. Minimum certifications/educational level:
  • High School diploma degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

  1. Minimum experience:
  • High School diploma.
  • Some post-secondary education preferred
  • Experience documenting calls by typing on a keyboard while speaking to a customer on the phone.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment.  Need to sit at a computer terminal, simultaneously talking on the phone and entering data, for lengthy periods of time.  Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.  May require shift work.
