Volt is currently seeking a Data Science Engineer (IT).

Summary: Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Eight to ten years engineering experience required. Skills and Competencies: Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas. Advanced ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field. Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications. Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.


Additional Job Details: Caterpillar offers many digital solutions that rely on telematics data and it's proper deployment. Caterpillar Construction Digital & Technology ensures the solutions are easy to use and provide value to the end customer. This role be responsible for CPI & NPI issues management, field validation plan and other pro-active Quality/Reliability swim lanes per Caterpillar NPI NPI and dNPI process i.e., APQP etc. Employees within the Construction Digital & Technology gain on-the-job experience related to: -Industry application of Heavy equipment -Practical application of telematics based solutions to solve customer problems -Voice of the customer and dealer for features and support tools New Hires will be expected to have some experience related to: -Building, troubleshooting or deployment of data science applications -Ability to concisely and accurately communicate technical information

Candidate Responsibilities Analyzing/tracking Product Link related development, field issues, CPI, NPI * Analyzing field data, identifying problem, root cause, permanent corrective action and report out. Managing field validation plan for new Product Link devices.

Typical Day Office setting most days. Eventually opportunities to travel in the field. Split between interfacing with data applications and supporting projects for customers.

Education Requirement * BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science * Understanding of data science tools & methodologies. Excellent skills in Excel to manage field and database data for executive summaries. The number of years of experience will vary based upon the type of experience the candidate possesses.

Technical Skills Required Strong candidates will have developed skill sets in one or more of the following: -Database Management (MySQL, SQL Server, Azzure, etc.) -Python, Ruby, .Net, R -Data Visiualiztion Tools (Tableau, Power-BI, CEDE) Heavy Equipment Telematics Solutions (Visionlink, JD-Link, Komtrax, Telogis)

Soft Skills Required Ability to concisely and accurately communicate technical information - Customer Service experience - Ability to work independently
