Job Description

Volt is seeking a Database Administrator to join our clients DBA team in Riverdale, MD.

The team of Database Administrators are responsible for configuration, management and maintenance of complex relational databases. They will evaluate and install database software releases, patches and system upgrades. The team members must have knowledge and understanding of database tuning: software configuration, memory usage, data access, database benchmarking, data manipulation, SQL, and physical storage. They will review database design and integration of systems, maintain security and integrity controls, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and improvements. Conduct requirements analysis, formulate policies, procedures and standards relating to database management and create the necessary documentation.

*This position requires the ability to obtain a US Government Clearance.

Required Skills:
• 4 years of experience directly related to Database Administration.
• 2 years minimum of experience with Oracle 12c and/or 19c
• 1 year minimum of experience with Database Administration of PostgreSQL.
• Strong Oracle Support utility skills (PL/SQL, SQL, DataPump/export/import)
• Experience with scripting - preferably Bash, Perl & Python
• Experience with development and execution of database security policies and hardening (DISA STIGS)
• Experience with security requirements for databases, developing, documenting, and implementing backup and recovery procedures.
• Experience with database performance tuning, partitioning, blobs, database storage management, data security and protection, and performing backups/ restores.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency
• Requires the ability to effectively interact with both local and remote System Admins, Hardware Team and Developers on significant technical matters
• Communication and diplomatic skills a must; significant interaction with various segments of the program

Desired Skills:
• Experience with data modeling and design using Oracle Data Modeler, TOAD
• SQL Server administration and performance tuning
• AWS RDS database administration
• Experience with Clearcase & Clearquest
• Experience with Chef
