Job Description

This position is responsible for packaging, integrating and maintaining database components onto servers utilizing SQL Server platform.

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with the entire infrastructure to maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and provide recovery for database components
  • Ability to create disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Troubleshoots SQL timeouts, long running and high memory queries
  • Scale SQL High Availability across 2 data centers
  • Supports, configures, installs, maintains and recovers database systems
  • Maintains backups and ensures recoverability of database components and data
  • Tunes and validates database systems, troubleshooting and resolving problems and outages
  • Participates in and coordinates project-based activity to analyze, propose, recommend, develop and deliver changes to the database environment, and maintains projects to monitor progress and communicate action plans
  • Develops standards and guidelines for the server environment and ensures that standards are maintained across all database platforms and environments
  • Ensures that all infrastructure components are consistent with respect to one another (i.e. a complete release).
  • Maintains documentation for all supported systems
  • Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal employees
  • Works extensively with development staff (all applications), and assists in resolution of hardware/software platform problems in complex, layered, client/server-based software
  • Gather, interpret and analyze business requirements and use cases, develop concepts/mock-ups via iterative practices, and design reporting solutions (dashboards, scorecards etc.) that meet use cases/requirements, as well as achieve ease of usability and self-service capabilities
  • Perform data integration, write efficient SQL Queries, and develop/deploy reporting solutions that apply data visualization standards and best practices, and meets quality standards by performing unit testing
  • Experience in installation, configuration, and support of SQL Server 2012(and higher) and setting up high-availability / disaster-recovery (HA/DR) environment which includes Failover Cluster Instances and Always-on Availability Groups
  • Enterprise backup/recovery solution, testing and documenting same.
  • Create documentation and technical specifications for reporting solutions, develop procedures/standard work, support readiness/training activities to end users
  • Perform routine maintenance support, and troubleshoot reported issues as well as determine root causes, and implement counter measures
  • Execute performance-tuning to achieve optimal performance
  • Oversee and validates integration of source data into the target environment
  • Knowledge of Cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Develop reports in a consistent best practices format
  • Creating Integration Service packages (SSIS) to automate ETL processes.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting SQL Server Agent jobs that execute SSIS packages; ensuring that data is loaded in a timely manner daily.
  • Writing and creating data processing/control scripts and stored procedures; ensuring the quality of the data,
  • Actively helping our team reconcile data
  • Writing reports for the general business, as requested.
  • Working knowledge of Postgres and other open source databases.
  • Knowledge of business analysis and experience with big data frameworks.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related degree or combination of experience, industry certification and education equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Design, Development, implementation, and Maintenance of Business Intelligence
  • Experience in SQL Server 2005 or newer and writing complex queries
  • Performance Tuning, SQL/Data Development, Tableau developer, Net programming required
  • 7 to 10 years of in-depth experience with Microsoft SQL Server is required

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in technical infrastructure and operations support environments is preferred.
  • Mulelsoft and SQL integration.
  • Experience with Tableau.
  • Experience with cubes reporting and SSRS.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
  • Successfully developed and implemented new technology and work processes.
  • Familiar with software development processes.
