Job Description

Volt has an opening for a Data Center Technician for a well-established client in Piscataway, NJ for a CONTRACT to Hire position. In this role the Data Center Technician will:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain products/equipment (HP/SUN/IBM Servers).
  • Trouble shoot and diagnose hardware and cabling issues
  • Identify, analyze, and repair product failures, orders and replaces parts as needed.
  • Determine and recommend which products or services best fit the customers' needs.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.


  • 3+ years of experience working in Data Centers and working within LIVE ENVIRONMENTS
  • Racking and Stacking of equipment in Cabinets
  • Cabling experience is a must – Fiber and Copper to include single and multi-mode fiber cables.
  • Experience with power – installing PDU’s, installing taps and working with BUS Systems
  • Server experience specifically with DELL servers
  • Break Fix experience – replacing HDD’s, DIMM modules, PCIE cards, SFP’s, CPU’s, configuring iDRAC, running system logs and BIOS tests, this includes blade servers as well
  • Experience in working with ticketing systems
