Defined Contributions Associate I

Seeking previous experience working for a Financial Services Company, Bank or Retirement Services Company

Our Client is a $2.8B Portland-based provider of financial products.  The company’s offerings include: group and individual disability insurance, group dental and vision insurance, retirement plans products and services, and investment advice.  Established 100 years ago, our Client offers the stability of an established firm with a collegial, high-touch service culture.  We are looking for a Full-Time Defined Contributions Associate I for an estimated 6 month assignment in Downtown Portland, Oregon.   This is a full-time – Monday – Friday – 40 hours a week schedule – manager offering flexible start time between 6 am – 9 am.

The Defined Contribution Associate I is responsible to process plan and participant contributions, enrollments and investment directives, participant requested distributions, sweeps, loans, required minimum distributions as well as excess contributions for testing failures in coordination with the compliance team. Coordinate and track requests to account managers and the Retirement Plans Contact Center for missing information, ensuring that requests are in good order prior to processing. Act as a resource for Account Managers and the Contact Center for processing.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

70%     Use critical thinking skills to interpret and apply plan provisions against participant and plan level requests to assure accuracy of participant and plan level processing in accordance with IRS/DOL guidelines. Assure incoming cash and enrollments are processed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with audit controls.

20%     Research nightly errors due to processing and determine any client impact and appropriate corrective action to be taken. Partner with other functional teams on any customer action or notifications. 

10%     Review recommend and/or implement process improvements to assure compliance with audit controls or changes that have positive customer impact or reduces company risk/liability. 

This is an estimated 6+ month contingent/temporary position in Portland, OR and is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions which is located in Portland, OR. PAY RATE:  $20 - $22 PER HOUR DOE

Requirements:

Defined Contribution Associate I Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience working with retirement plans is a definite plus.
  • A solid and thoughtful approach that clearly defines problems and analyzes information using a rational and systematic approach.
  • Open minded and cooperative. Works in partnership with others to accomplish goals while considering new ideas, exploring possibilities, and openly addressing conflict when needed.
  • Confidently and competently conveys and presents information that is straightforward, uncomplicated, and clear. 
  • Devoted to understanding and anticipating customers’ needs. Listens to understand, shows loyalty, commitment and caring to provide high quality products and services that exceed their expectations.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite is required.
  • SharePoint experience is a definite plus!
  • Detail oriented with professional demeanor.
  • Willing to take direction from others, good listener, attention to detail, willing to ask questions, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and work under tight deadlines.

Education:

Associate’s degree in business, finance, math or accounting preferred; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
