Deployment Consultant - Deployment Coordination Services

Overview of Role and Reporting Relationships

  • The Deployment Consultant will report to the Practice Director and is responsible for crafting mass deployment communications and sending the communications to end users based on an established migration schedule, typically by a Deployment Lead on the same project team.
  • Projects are focused on deploying/migrating/upgrading technology (cloud-based solutions, operating systems upgrades, etc.) following a defined process in customer environments.
  • Heavy focus is placed on communication support throughout the migration with an overall goal of enhancing the customer and end-user experience.


  • BA or BS is preferred but will consider equivalent and relevant work experience
  • 3+ Yrs. experience in the IT field – Consulting experience a plus
  • Strong written, communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to remain flexible, objective and adapt well to change
  • Proven experience in playing a key role with large implementations of technology. Prior experience with Fortune 100 companies is preferred
  • Experience with upgrading/rolling out of technology for a large user group (Email Migration, Active Directory, Server Migrations, Office 365)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially reading and working with large sets of data
  • Strong Interpersonal, self-management and team building skills; Must work well in a team setting

This position will be responsible for the following key areas:
Pre-Sales and Planning - 
Collaborate with a Deployment Architect and Deployment Lead in deployment planning and design:

  • Creating communication templates based on best practices, client requirements and deployment schedule
  • Modify, and send waves of mass communication based on the migration schedule for end users, to include:
    • Pre-deployment preparation messages (T-20, T-10, etc.)
    • Revised schedule messages
    • Post-deployment messages

Communications Scheduling and Management

  • Understand the migration schedule as it relates to communications blasts and be able to spot and escalate schedule errors and red flags to the Deployment Lead
  • Manage the project mailbox to triage and respond to end user responses and work with the Deployment

Lead on schedule changes

  • Work with the Deployment Lead to solve user issues during pre and post migration
  • Provide daily feedback to the team about user responses, potential issues, growing patterns etc.
  • Offer flexibly in working with multiple time zones and overcoming cross-cultural barriers during global migrations

Process and Procedure Improvement

  • Offer suggestions for improvement on best practices based on past and ongoing experience with migration communications
  • Able to incorporate “lessons learned” from experience into future communications design plans. Also, share the same with the team for general process and procedure enhancements
  • Identify additional business opportunities through daily interactions with clients, primarily through a developed awareness of the clients various practice groups
