Volt is looking for a Design Release Engineer for our client in the Automotive industry. 

Design Release Engineer HVAC Systems

Functions as the Design Release Engineer (DRE) for HVAC Systems. Design and develop parts to ensure product meets design targets. Develop drawings with CAD designers and release through the various program gate reviews. Manage all aspects of the product life cycle including cost, quality, timing of deliveries, and continuous improvement.


•         Development and release responsibility for HVAC Components such as A/C System parts, Air Handling system parts including Ducts, Heater hoses, Battery Cooling system parts and brackets

•         Generate or modify program-specific component specifications that ensure compliance to all Vehicle Technical Specifications and sub-system requirements (incl. performance, thermal, quality, reliability, and durability requirements)

•         Responsible for engineering documents (drawings/GD&T/DFMEA/DVPs/…) required for release and change management process (ECRs)

•         Develop and conduct test regimens which demonstrate performance, quality, reliability, and durability

•         Ensure part availability for all pre-production and production builds (CP and PV MRD)

•         Work in conjunction with purchasing to:

•         maintain components that meet program miles stones (Sourcing, PPAP)

•         Track PRs, POs and invoices

•         Order parts on time

•         Support prototype and production build issues from a manufacturing and assembly perspective

•         Coordinate designs with all interfacing departments (CAE, Electrical, Structure, etc.)

•         Resolve Quality Issues using structured root cause approach

•         Develop cost effective solutions


•         Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering degree or equivalent proven experience.

•         5-10 years of experience with vehicle HVAC, Powertrain cooling component or sub-system design experience or Equiv.

•         Excellent oral and written communication skills

•         Catia experience preferred.
