Have you ever been involved in infrastructure streaming in 24x7 production environment monitoring software deployments?   

Are you HIGHLY competent in Release Management?  

Volt is looking for a strong collaborative team player to work on a 24x7 streaming infrastructure Operations Team - specifically focusing on software development cycle, QA and release management. The candidate will be working closely with the software design/development team with a focus on release management of new software into the production environment.

  • Candidate will assist in evaluate performance of service calls and network stack events of the IP delivery infrastructure, triaging tier 1 and 2 level incidents, diagnosing, and information gathering of Production IP delivery systems.
  • The candidate will be supporting applications, hardware and configurations deployed across the companies IP delivery systems.
  • Candidate will perform a wide variety of software configuration and maintenance and operational support tasks of many varied back end systems, including, but not limited to, Windows/Linux server OS/software, server class hardware, VMware vSphere, AWS Infrastructure, Postgres/SQL databases and various application servers.
  • Candidate will be responsible for active monitoring of software deployments into production environments and working with DevOps teams to ensure uptime and stability.
  • The position is considered to be on-call and the candidate will be expected to ensure the coverage of after-hours deployments/maintenance windows. This position is an individual contributor/hands on role.
  • The position focuses on streaming deployment and security infrastructure within the companies IP delivery systems. This also includes expanded responsibilities surrounding all infrastructure support including application monitoring diagnoses. The candidate should have a penchant for problem solving environment problems, and a dedication to ensuring high-availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct code implementation with Java and J2EE technologies  
  • Experience with deployment of applications/code.
  • Deploy Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure using Cloud Formation Scripts.
  • Monitor and understand security events with WAFs, IDS/IPS, and access logs.
  • Monitor Linux/Windows Servers in AWS and on premises.
  • Maintain knowledge of Networking Fundamentals (TCP/IP) Firewalls, ACL's and security.
  • Maintain knowledge of virtualization infrastructures running on VMware suite of products: VSphere 5.X and newer, vCenter, ESXi Servers.
  • Maintain knowledge of Virtual Machines, Clone and Templates.
  • Collect, monitor and analyze systems performance data for to proactively predict problems.
  • Perform custom application maintenance, to include debugging, installing new application releases, patching.
  • Develop, document and maintain procedures for maintaining, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Run automated tasks with shell scripts (Bash, Batch, Python) that are prescribed by DevOps teams.
  • Proficient with a terminal in a Linux or Window environment.
  • AWS experience and certification(s) a plus.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Admin, or Advanced Networking.
  • Understanding of REST, XML and JSON required
  • Proficiency in documenting using MS Office is required.
  • Postgres, SQL, and NoSQL Database knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Windows Server administration is a plus.
  • VM performance monitoring, capacity planning and redundancy planning.
  • Server Hardware configuration, installation, and maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of Internet security best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of IT/Engineering experience.
  • Experience with virtual infrastructure and support (VMWare/AWS).
  • Good understanding of the software development/release management cycle.
  • Highly preferred a good AWS knowledge base.
  • Must be familiar with most flavors of Linux/Windows.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Sciences Technology or related fields. Equivalent experience will be evaluated and considered.
