CAD Technician-Manufacturing


Individuals in this role will be responsible for understanding the ear canal anatomy, interpreting digital scans of full-ear canal impressions, utilizing 3D modeling software along with documented manufacturing procedures (MPs) to design custom hearing aid components (lens and ear tip), and recording functions and activities performed on applicable manufacturing and/or quality records.  The individuals comply with documented requirements, including company policies, and procedures, including, quality, safety, and environmental policies.


  1. Performs line clearance activities per documented procedures
  2. Interprets scans of full-ear impressions and determines acceptability for use in the product design, providing feedback and observations to applicable team members
  3. Reviews order requests (including special requests) and ensures order completeness and accuracy before beginning a job
  4. Completes impression repair, lens design, and ear tip design using 3D modeling software and in accordance with work order requirements and documented manufacturing procedures
  5. Records details of work and completes required portions of manufacturing records to ensure trace-ability of each finished product lot
  6. Enters product attributes into MES/ERP systems and completes applicable transactions
  7. Follows procedural check-list and inspects work to ensure the design is meeting established requirements and specifications
  8. Works in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment and be able to document their work in accordance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP) requirements. Signs/dates documentation to verify completion of setup procedures
  9. Submits complete and accurate documentation and digital files to quality control in a timely manner
  10. Provides status updates, as requested/required


  • Ability to learn details of the ear anatomy and procedures around impressions, lens design, and ear tip design, and associated 3D modeling software
  • High attention to detail in digital design and documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems using structured methods
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office


  • 0-1 years of experience in custom digital design for hearing aids
  • Experience in 3D modeling software and surfacing tools preferred (examples: Rhino, zBrush, GeoMagic Studio, 3Shape, AutoCAD, Solidworks),
  • Experience with Grasshopper 3D a plus
  • Medical device experience preferred
  • Start-up company experience preferred
