Director of Operations – Direct Hire

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing operational leadership which results in achieving our annual and strategic goals related to customer satisfaction, operational excellence, revenue growth and profit, and work environment.  Drives the operations to attain key performance metrics centered on: on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, labor efficiencies, operational excellence, technology, and work environment.  Oversees a variety of operational and initiatives.  ITAR clearance required.  Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing the production organization.  Leads lean manufacturing initiatives which result in improved labor costs, quality, responsiveness and flexibility.  Responsible for ensuring operational metrics are in place and are effectively managed to
  • Applies knowledge of global contract manufacturing industry to anticipate both customer needs and adapting to a changing global landscape
  • Monitors key operational performance metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, price for value, and use of technology.  Reviews company performance to standards on a regular basis
  • Effectively develops a cohesive manufacturing leadership team, which includes the selection of key management staff
  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards
  • Responsible for ensuring production staff are properly trained and certified in order to meet requirements
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training production employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in partnership with Human Resources
  • Manages policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost
  • Balances work cell capacity/loading across the operations
  • Determines operations headcount needs and ensures compliance with company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • BS Engineering or sciences, or equivalent education  
  • A minimum of 10 years or more of progressive experience in a management role in an electronics environment is required, including supervising four or more direct reports
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of electronics manufacturing and quality assurance experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have direct experience with electronic assembly equipment and processes such as SMT, hand soldering, flow solder, AOI and X-ray inspection
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of quality systems knowledge and experience (ISO-9001, ISO-13485, AS-9100, and IPC 610)
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical techniques and advanced quality planning
  • Applied knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project etc) is required
  • Able to demonstrate proven experience as a strong team player with multiple organizations
  • Strong customer facing communication skills and experience with root cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process 
  • Must be flexible and able to deal with multiple, changing priorities
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to “inspect what is expected” with minimal dependence upon others 
  • Must have excellent judgment and decision making
