The Director of Public Relations and Communications will be responsible for creating engaging marketing initiatives for developing and advancing Sacramento’s brand and story, helping the region earn the reputation as the best and easiest place to do business in California. You will be responsible for:

  • Aligning public relations strategies to organizational business goals.
  • Overseeing branding and communications strategies for programs including but not limited to business development, research, investor and community relations.
  • Monitoring, managing and maintaining Greater Sacramento’s brand identity across print and digital medial channels to a diverse array of audiences, both internal and external.
  • Developing press releases and blog content while overseeing media relations via existing contacts and vendors.
  • Working with the marketing, research, investor relations and business development teams to develop overall publicity strategy and priorities, consistent and effective messaging of external documents, and event and PR activities.
  • Strengthen existing and build new relationships with media and stakeholders through creative and forward thinking PR strategies.
  • Working with regional partners to understand the assets in their communities and act as a resource for their PR efforts.
  • Contributing and reviewing all content for website, digital and print media.
  • Participating in all applicable organizational meetings with internal team and stakeholders.
  • Preparing regular reports and presentations on marketing metrics for the CEO.

We need you to have:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in public relations and communications. Global experiences and experience in economic development organizations a plus.
  • Demonstrated success with paid and earned media.
  • The desire to quickly develop a deep understanding of the Greater Sacramento region’s offerings and target audiences. 
  • Skills in developing metrics that measure the success of program drivers and impact.
  • Exceptional writing and computer skills with a preference for utilizing effective tools for managing content and brand assets and streamlining processes for efficiency.
  • Fluency with social media management, community management, PR, branding and content strategy.
  • Comfort working in a fast paced environment and doing hands-on work in a growing organization.
  • Exceptional team-orientation and communication skills. You enjoy collaborating with and learning from your teammates.
  • A self-motivated, continuous learning approach.
