Job Description

Volt is seeking an Electrical CAD Engineer for Wire Harness for an opportunity in Irvine, CA.

 In this role the Electrical CAD Engineer will be part of the Electrical Team responsible for wiring harness schematics, packaging and 2D and 3D CAD drawing.

Responsibilities:

  • Create concept models for packaging or FEA simulation studies
  • Create/modify logical schematic and translate System Schematics into wiring diagrams and harnesses
  • 3D harness routing, releasing 2D and 3D CAD drawing in line with the Company part release process
  • Convert CAD data to a variety of different industry formats specified by customer and vendor CAD systems.
  • Generate system, subsystem, and component level geometry/package space through the use of legacy and detail drawings.
  • Flattening 3D models of wiring harnesses resulting in 2D prints
  • Design of brackets
  • Direct Interface to Engineering specifically DREs and CAE engineers and suppliers relevant to program and project work.
  • Read/Interpret blueprints and design for assembly, manufacturing, and service
  • Participating in the packaging meetings internally and with supplier
  • Leads the problem resolution and tracking process and provides feedback on status to tracked problems.
  • Evaluates and recommends options consistent with industry best practices.
  • Apply automotive drafting standards, GD&T, design guidelines, and release system to designs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years Automotive or Aerospace related Schematics capturing, packaging, 2D and 3D CAD experience at either OEM or Tier-1 supplier level
  • Knowledge of checking: Device Transmittal, System Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, and harnesses for accuracy
  • Experience and familiar with 3D and 2D CAD software applications
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills by developing consensus and win-win situations
  • Good analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
